Since this blog is intended to be a resource for healthcare providers interested in applying the principals and concepts of functional medicine as well as for patients who want to educate themselves, it seemed fitting that I would use a photo of the father of functional medicine, Dr. Jeffrey Bland, in my header. Jeff has been a friend and mentor for more than 40 years, and has been an inspiration to countless practitioners wanting to approach the treatment of chronic disease in a different way. I truly believe the benefits of his vision and dedication will be felt for many years by patients; he has contributed to a change in the way healthcare is delivered. (And for the record, while I want to honor his vision and dedication by picturing him here, this in no way implies his involvement or endorsement of what is posted here.)
